Your thinking is sound, especially if he was raising the table too often, but the amount a tourney is often reflects the type of play you will see. A8 call off.. absolute donk. But if it's only $2... why not. Play those .25 tourneys if you don' t know what I'm talking about. With a maniac like that (if indeed he was but I think a call of with a8 qualifies as a maniac) you are best off to either trap him, or go in with a more quality hand than qj. He's going to call wiht anything, so you might as well go in the race ahead. If you really want to get him, call pre, and shove the flop. Better luck next time.

I think I fold here. You don't have that much folding equity with your stack, I might be pushing like 15bb stack here if i want him to fold. Calling is not an option.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought he was playing over 20bbs. That does change ur fe here little bit. Tho i'm still folding here, I don't dislike ur shove that much (I've seen people raise/folding for 50% of their stack at higher BI tournaments). Against maniac I would just shove little stronger hand like KQ, AT+ because I would expect him to call here more often.
