Hi bear, just wondering how much a solid state drive enhances your PC compared to an ordinary drive?

My PC is a custom build Alienware, with 12gb ram, fairly good processor, but I did not get a ssd at the time, is it possible to upgrade?

Thanks for the vid.

@ Muckem - Yup it is................My boot up is suppa fast and man does it make a difference to the PC. All other data goes on my two other drives. I was a bit dubious like yourself but if you want to check it out call up chillblast mate - These guys do know thr stuff and when i spoke to them they were honest ! I enquired about a 3d monitor and even though they are selling the best one out there they advised me that the technology is not good enough yet...........How about that for honesty uh ?

Give them a ring and tell them Bear sent you and they even sell the gear too..............If u spend enough in upgrades etc you may even be able to haggle for a discount !!

Cheers for the reply Bear,

One more question if you don't mind, my PC has 2 x 500gb hard drives, so would it be possible to take one of those out, put in a 256gb ssd, then assign my 500gb to have all my music and videos etc, while my ssd stays empty to perform to the maximum?

@ MuckEm44 - Hi mate. Well if you put in a fast boot up drive you wll need windows etc strored on that and then use ur larger drive for storing data in my opinion. However, i would suggest speaking to chilblast and see what they recomend. What I would say if you are going to this trouble I would gt a bigger drive than 500. In todays standard that is pretty small. I have 3 drives remember - 1 fast boot up then 2 main storage ones which i store my poker stuff on and my games like wow !

Give chillblast a ring see what they suggest and get some price quotes.........

Let me know how u get on mate.

Nice vid, bear! I just hope that the PokerTube player gets an update so that we can have even better quality because frankly it's a bit trashy as it is now.

If you have a desktop then there's no need to remove one of the drives (unless Alienware only has 2 Serial ATA (SATA for short) connections which I highly doubt as most motherboards have at least 6 connectors. Simply add an ssd and install your operating system and the programs you use most frequently on that.

I would recommend nothing smaller than a 60GB SSD as a OS (operating system) drive. Windows 7 takes up it's fair share and you never want an SSD to be filled to the brim. As for brands I would suggest OCZ and their Vertex series, Corsair's newer series: Nova, Reactor and Force (where Force is the most recent and the best by far).

I personally use an OCZ Vertex 120GB as system drive + programs and it's absolutely wonderful.

Watching it now, might start making some videos of watching other people, not sure... Currently downloading that Camtasia program for a very discounted price, will see how it goes. Bear, IE blows, you seem pretty smart tech, thought you'd be on Firefox or Chrome, IE is a lethal program. Lol @ lover interaction through WoW...

@ VividAAces - The screen resolution is higher than that mate. You would want no les than 1024*768 and if you ccan get bettre then good. My current settings on this new PC is 1920*1200. Because i have the right codecs and set up on camtasia i can get a 26 minute recording to a size of about 50 mb in avi format and NO editing !

If you need a help on the codec set up mate give us a shout................
