I really feel bad for Matt Affleck, think he handled that bad beat pretty well.
41 million chip pot in the main event with final 15 players... Sick, he would have been final table safe with a stack like that and in decent shape to win it for sure.

Ya I seriously feel so bad for Matt. I mean to go deep in one main event and to go out bluffing is one thing. To make an even deeper run the next year and to have to go out like that. Seriously heartbreaking. Imagine the grind of 8 long days just to go out like that I mean wow, even I would start to cry. He deserved to win but hey that's poker and it's a sick game. I hope he comes back next year even stronger, now that would be sweet.

Matt went for the maximum. Pretty sick river and how can you call with JJ in that spot. He didnt say anything about how he reacted on the 2+2 podcast but what a nice gesture at the end. GG.

VERY ugly beat for Affleck. I rooted for him and for Cheong 2, those guys have very much heart and are excellent players. Duhamel is not that bad, but this call is not good at all ! He beats absolutely nothing, and Affleck doesn't bluff in that position. I'd say he was just gambling or on tilt. GOOOOO Cheong!!

yea pretty much same thoughts here, was picking Affleck and Cheong to win as well but I don't think Duhamel is bad, this call was just a big mistake, but you can't expect someone to play for 8 days straight and don't make a single mistake. He knew he made a bad call and wasn't proud of it....

4 to 1 to almost guaranteed final table and very likely at least 4th place or something. Handled that really well, coming back and shaking hands..
Normally I'd say "it's just poker lol", but situations like these are life changing for sure. Like someone said, I don't think I'll complain about my aces getting cracked by jacks in that 10$ pot ever again.

why affleck didnt push preflop with his AA? Duhamel would propably throw away his jacks.. To greedy - thats why he lost, he just wanted extract more chips from Duhamel, if he considered folding on any flops with pocket A's, board like 789Q was one of them.

All "that" hand needs is Tony G to appear from nowhere and simply say "got a date with an eight?" ... yes very harsh but made me chuckle :)

To greedy - thats why he lost, he just wanted extract more chips from Duhamel, if he considered folding on any flops with pocket A's, board like 789Q was one of them. First of all 789Q is not a flop but a turn. By the time there are about 18 million in the pot and Affleck gets his money in as 80-20 fav. Of course he wanted to extract many chips there, because it was a golden opportunity and he's not inthere to make the final table, but trying to have a shot at winning the event. Your comment is just outrageously ignorant and annoying. Affleck is the kind of player who's willing to take a risk to make a lot of chips. And he knows that he's in danger to bust if it doesn't work out. But that doesn't make the beat any easier to take. He won't regret his decision, because he did everything right here...

slowplaying big pair vs other big stack in this stage of tourney is to risky.. he should just shove preflop after Duhalem reraise and take those few milions instead of risking whole stack postflop

Secret Identity? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY_oKve-bH0It's not just that he may make Duhamel fold some strong hands but, as it's CO v Button, Duhamel has air here a reasonable amount of time I'd have thought and calling will get a cbet quite often, or will let him catch a piece of the flop and get him paid. Shoving takes all of Duhamels air out of his range. Not that shoving isn't bad with all the chips in the middle already, but to say that he outright should have shoved, having seen what happened, is just silly.
