PLO8 FT with Rikard

So I managed to make another Final Table in my favorite tournament, the $109 PLO8 on PokerStars at 21:30 CET. I struggled a lot with a short stack, but I am happy with the result anyway. Enjoy and please leave a comment in the forum if you want. Rikard

Rikard, OPENlimp-autobet. Please not. So exploitable.

edit: you have been pretty card dead in the end (and unlucky to get walks when you had hands), but i think, you gotta play more aggressive. Less limping, more raising, imo. Did you see any of them openlimp button or cutoff 5 or 4 handed?
You are giving away free info by telling them they can watch the video (and your holecards) on pokertube.......

edit: awful lo chasing with 8hi by WUJEC against the nut/nut and gutshot-draw of King_CES. (Board Ad 6d T J 4d) So nice he got quartered there, well deserved.

crap hands. crap crap crap crap crap lol

I don't like limping the high only hand like utg ATTK or whatever it was. These high only hands don't hold enough value at this stage of the tournament. These type of hands are playable when the stacks are deep and the pot is multi-way where you have implied odds and a better chance of getting paid off.
You are better off just folding here and staying in good chip position esp since the bb is an aggressive big stack who will put the pressure on you alot.

Next had you have A36K on a 458r flop. I'm happy getting this all in o the flop, you're low is almost certainly good as he will def be raising any A2xx i this scenario since hes been such an aggressive CL. I might even min bet the flop to try and get him to ch/r like he did the previous hand. This flop is a monster for you bvb with this stack size.

Next hand you get A336 and you flat the btn's raise in the SB. I think you give him too much credit here saying if he has A2 you're in trouble. This guy is very LAG and even when he was a shorty he was playing hands like 2574. tbh you need to either 3bet preflop and get it all in or else fold. The problem with seeing a flop is your hand misses the flop way too often and you are OOP against a player who's is betting 100% of flops. Imo you're hand is too weak to get in pre with icm to consider. It just doesn't have any high potential just low. It seems tight to just fold this hand when you're getting so many crap hands but your risking too big a % of your stack to just see a flop where you are ch/f so often. You end up folding on a flop where you have a pair of 6s and the 2nd nut low draw, what flops will you continue on? If this isn't one then there aren't many that you will another reason not to flat oop.

You pondered over playing K935 in the BB, don't get tempted none of these cards play well together don't be tempted. Wait for at least A and a wheel.

hmmmm don't like limping the button with any hands esp one that has no low potential like KJT4. You need to pot the turn with Js and Ts and get your stack in. His range is more weighed towards low draws than made high hands. Put yourself in his shoes, if you had a made high hand oop you will not check this turn giving a free card on such a wet flop you would bet that turn with a straight every time. A straight has to protect against a low draw and a fl draw. So back in you're own shoes :) potting the turn is the best play and committing to the hand cause by potting you're not giving him the correct odds to draw low. Once you check the turn you have to fold the river yes.

A4Q6 to the button open you need to go all in pre here you have a good two way hand Vs an aggro button open ad you need a double got to gamble here, you're way ahead of his opening range plus he's terrible imo just a good aggressive player but doesn't have good o8 hand values.

Def correct to get the KK all in with 2 low cards in the last hand just UL.

I think you're grasp of o8 is decent and have improved alot. Things where you can improve:
Stack sizes: You have to be careful with seeing flop on a short stack esp oop where u will have to give up alot post flop, it's just burning money.
Limping: I think you need to be raising or folding at this stage limping is fine earlier in the mtt when stacks are deep and ave skill level is alot lower.

Enjoyed this vid well played and v ul that you got no action with aces like how many times? sick

i don't know much about PLO8 but duffers knowledge seems v.solid and I know he's a good PLO8 player and his reasoning was well explained :)

also, just as general poker theory, I don't understand why you think limp-calling is better than openraising in general. when you limped on this table, you got ISO'd almost every time. this means you lose any initiative (which you didnt really have anyway) and you c-f a bunch of flops. by raising you give yourself a chance to just take the blinds, and people who were obviously ISO'ing you pretty light would not get the opportunity to do so. if you get 3bet after you raise even the aggro guys are often gonna have a legitimate hand since theres a difference between ISO'ing a limper and re-raising a raiser. if you get called you're in a similar sized pot to when you limp-call, but now you have initiative and are going to take the pot down much more often. it seemed like you bled alot of chips by limp-call-check-folding. which isnt what you want to be doing.

nonetheless, enjoyed the video. you're commentary is good to watch.

Hi boys. Rikard here. Thanks a lot for the great response. I have come to the conclusion that I am something of a Hellmuthish guy when I play PLO8. I am good against bad opponents and pretty good at getting people to tilt-donk off their chips to me. More often than not, I manage to be chip leader of close to it early on in these tournaments and I think it comes down to my ability to play many different hands in comparison to my opponents. NOW, my big problem is usually to shift gears at the later stages. I need to work on that and hopefully, thanks to guys like Duffer and Fitzy, I can improve my end game in tournaments and have better results. Thanks!
Rikard
