Weekly $215 Badugi Final Four

I rarely get to play this lovely Weekly $215 Badugi, but after getting some valuable lessons from Barry Greenstein in this great game, I managed to have a nice result again (I won this tournament a couple of months ago). Only 13 players started this tournament and I began recording when we were down to 4 players. Please leave a comment in the forum. Enjoy!

If you want to buy Barry Greenstein's book 'The Badugi Chapter' on Amazon.com, here is the link:

Congratulations on the win! Personally I hate limping blind vs blind, I think raising or folding is a better option since raising pre might make the bb fold. Some things Barry might tell you if he watches this video is that you probably shouldn't keep the 9's or 8's before first draw when you got 2 good low cards, I think it said in his book that he throws 8's away if he has 3-4 or lower. I usually keep 8's when I have like 8-5-6 or something like that. I believe that the only time I would keep a 9 before the first draw is when I have position and opponent stands pat, since the average pat badugi pre first draw is a good queen badugi. Otherwise really nice video, I love seeing videos about something other than NL Holdem or Omaha :).

Wish some network would add Baduci or Badaci, maybe that is something for PokerTubeSpeedPoker to implement, since I would love to try those games.

Forgot to name the reason why throwing the 9 or 8 away pre first draw is considered good is because the higher possibility to get a really good 3 card badugi. Since like you said getting that last card isn't so easy so a 3 card badugi wins very often and having a 9 or 8 in your 3-card badugi isn't very good I believe :)

God, are you stubborn in the blinds, lol BigGrin

I enjoyed your limps with hands like A7 and then immediately saying: "That's a bad play right now." BigGrin

When you had KQ-badugi, you have been standing pat for the last draw. You thought about calling after last draw. You shouldn't check-call, imo. People will rarely try to bluff you in this spot. Not often enough to make that call, i think. The odds that they are missing against KQ after drawing one AND trying to bluff you off a badugi are very, very slim, esp. when it is for such a big part of their stack and when they are betting into a big stack.

edit: A few hands later, this guy didnt even bet his K badugi in positiion after last draw, when he can get value from 3card-hands. Even his A23 alone was worth a bet(which is basically the same as A23Kbadugi, obv.) So do not check-call this guy with KQ-badugi after last draw, imho.

edit:
Later, you called him down with a ten badugi, when he was standing pat. I don't like this. He wasn't ever rereraising you, then standing pat for two draws and then still betting with anything worse than T-8, never ever. Call his raise and when he is standing pat and betting out, just fold, imho.

edit:
Your last two opponents, lol, they are playing so bad. Never bluffing after last draw, never betting for thin value, i.e. with 3card-hands, i didn't see any snowing, overall very passive before and after last draw, pretty easy to put them on ranges, nom, nom.
Does anyone want to stake me for this? ;)

edit: playitsafe is a big winner in this game. He isn't as bad as tunnny, but he isn't great either and he has almost a 100% ROI for a profit of more than 20k.
Folks, if you got the bankroll to play this, go ahead, this is most profitable, imo.

Congrats, nice you took it down!

Nice vid, i enjoyed watching, thanks for posting, keep them coming.
