I don't think i'm calling here.
Of course this would be easier to comment on with any pertinent info about the villain, but in a vacuum this looks like a fold.
I mean, of course he's polarised in this spot, and in someways thats a reason you can justify a call, but you're left with 15bb and plenty of fold equity for a shoving stack. Just feel like its a bit of a give up to call hoping your A high plays in this spot, and hoping he has a missed draw.
On a side note about the hand, I think you could possibly get away with just jamming preflop here. You're not very deep, what, 19bbish. Its a really bad stack to have big hands like AK, because of course you're still going to be looking to improve on the flop, and given that I imagine you are playing a TAG style of poker given what I know about you, given the fact you're opening UTG on that stack you can't really expect to be shoved that light on, but given that its a $10 tourney, theres a decent chance you may get flatted by a spurious range by someone leaving you OOP with a hand that will frequently miss the flop. Its a shame to pick up AK here, obv if you are like MP/HJ, you can get away with min raising in the hope someone ships on you, but im fine with you playing it safe and just jamming here and more often than not taking the blinds and maybe get someone to call off with AQ/AJ because your shove does look sort of weak (you never expect a really big hand to jam 19bb). Its just a thought.
Also your cbet could be a little bit small, feel like 3750 or something will get the job done just as well as half pot.
Also this isn't a bad spot to check back the flop. Its the kind of flop players may try and bluff you on, and you are in position, you remain well ahead of his range, but you're not that deep so you don't want to put in too many chips here. Also you're not going to be double barrelling v often when you get called I imagine, given that when he flats you on this flop, its going to be tough to push him off a hand unless you improve. So I don't mind a check flop - call a safe turn, check or fold a river depending on how he plays it / bet if you improve. It sounds a bit like a bearish play, to quote him, 'you dont always have to cbet', but he does it purely because he doesn't make a set, here you can do it to manage a nice pot controlled value line.
