Pokerstars run a live series in the UK, UKIPT, and it has become a firm favourite amongst some of the core members of Pokertube.
Last year, many of us (myself, r00ts, Fitzy, Eddy, Cina, Bear, TeddyisKGB, B4rt3k, Papabear, Duffer etc etc etc) went to several UKIPT events, namely Nottingham, Manchester and Brighton. I speak for all of us when I say those weekends were pretty sick, on both a poker and social front. Seeing Bear drunk or having a chat with Liv Boeree make for a good weekend.
This year, due to the popularity of the tour, they jacked up the buy-ins (£700+70). Still most of they skype room plan on going to this event, either by buying in direct, sattying in or selling packages. This could be a fun, competitive alternative way to make it there. I would suggest the Nottingham leg, on account of it being the best casino and best run leg of the tour. (April)
How it would work
We find out how many people want to play, obviously by registering firm interest on this thread. If you would like to play, please write something in bold to that effect.
After consulting people, the winner will get the seat for £770, and money for a hotel of £230. Having gone to Nottingham for poker a few times now, that will be enough for a nice hotel for 3 nights assuming you play Day 1b like a normal person :). So if you are going to be coming from continental Europe, be aware travel will be at your own expense.
So total package = £1000/1,581.85 USD
My best guess is we will get 20 entrants for this (based on who I think will play and who has confirmed interest).
So an estimated buy in for the series at around $80.
Also an agreed % of the seat will be divided amongst the group for a sweat. Provisionally 25%.
We then send that money to someone, I would suggest me (I hope after what i've done at Pokertube over the past 3 years, people would trust me on this, although I understand if people would rather it be Rikard or Stefan etc). We then run a 8 tourney (one a week) league. This can either be just Holdem, or we can do mixed games, again, its about what the majority demand.
Top 5 each week get points - 10/8/6/4/2
After the 8 weeks are up, winner gets shipped the money, and registers for UKIPT Nottingham through Pokerstars, and joins whoever else is going for a weekend of Poker, Alcohol and fun.
Really important to gauge interest, and anything you want to add would be great. I would aim to start this in max 2 weeks time.
Cheers, and if this doesnt get running, at least we tried lol.
Much Love. C
Confirmed interest

NB. I will ensure as many as possible of the rounds get filmed and put on PT. Maybe we can alternate who does it.

Well positive responses so far, if people fancy telling me how they would prefer this to be run
i.e. All NLH/Game Rotation week after week.
My personal preference is naturally all NLH, based on the fact its the game that will be played at UKIPT and give a slightly more even playing field as I imagine it is most of the runners best game.

Ill like to hear other peoples opinion on this. Also I think we should encorporate a rule which says that everyone who paid to play the leaderboard will get a 1% freeroll (or more) in the tourney of the one who plays. The amount of % depends on the amount of runners obviously siggy mc sig sig

Also im guessing there will be a need for the tournaments to have a password to stop random people who havent paid to play for the satellite leaderboard entering. Fair enough?
