The Gaming World feat Seth Palansky | QuadJacks Poker Radio Monday February 6 2012World Series of Poker Communications Director Seth Palansky discusses this year’s changes, Jimmy Sommerfeld controversy, and touches on Caesars Entertainment’s IPO.
Seth Palansky is the communications director for the World Series of Poker, and Caesars Entertainment Corp, a position he has held for the last four years, having previously worked with the NFL and Fox Sports. In this extended interview with The Gaming World, he responds to a number of questions regarding his work with the World Series of Poker, beginning with the success, despite Black Friday, of last year’s WSOP and he attributes it to. This year’s schedule was recently unveiled, and Palansky explains many of the most interesting changes, such as the relocation of the “November Nine” final table taking place in October instead (Palansky also dismisses a popular misinterpretation that he was opposed to the November Nine concept). Asked how much it profits the WSOP to add bracelet events (which the series did again this year), Palansky responds that those decisions are driven more by an objective goal of maintaining a balance with the number of bracelet events available and the average number of participants. Palansky also addresses the current controversy surrounding tournament director Jimmy Sommerfeld and a questionable add-on offered to players at WSOP Circuit events. In closing, Palansky shares as much as he is able to share at this time regarding Caesars Entertainment’s imminent IPO.
